PROGRAMS

If you are available and willing to participate, please let us know by October 31. Feel free to reach out to us directly at GreatAmericanTeachIn@RandallPTSA.org with any questions or to confirm your interest. We would be thrilled to have you as part of this special event!

We are excited to announce that Randall Middle School will be participating in the annual Great American Teach-In on November 21. As part of this event, we invite community members to come in and share their careers, hobbies, and life experiences with our students to inspire and engage them in their learning.

Do you, or someone in your professional network, have a career or expertise that could inspire and motivate our students? Presentations can focus on careers, hobbies, life lessons, or other areas of interest that could give students a broader perspective on the world.

We invite you to help us make this year’s Teach-In a memorable and impactful day by recommending presenters or volunteering yourself. The event will take place throughout the school day, and we are flexible in scheduling to accommodate your availability. Presentations typically last between 35-45 minutes, and we are happy to work with individual schedules to accommodate availability.

The 2024-2025 Reflections theme is ‘Accepting Imperfection’

The National PTA Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program for students. The Reflections Program provides opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and to receive positive recognition for original works of art inspired by a pre-selected theme, while increasing community awareness on the importance of the arts in education. Participation in the Reflections Program is a great way for students to explore and learn about various art forms. Creating art is a valuable learning process that challenges students to use their critical thinking skills as well as their creative talents to create art that supports a specific theme.

Students can qualify in multiple categories. Only original works of art will be accepted.

Category Rules

Participation in the National PTA Reflections program is open to all students in attendance at PTA/PTSA schools where the program is sponsored. Local Units winners advance entries to County Councils and County Council winners advance to the state level.

Information for the 2024-2025 Process

  • Review the Rules for the respective category of interest (Links above)
  • The student then completes their artwork. Students can submit 1 entry per category (photography, visual arts, literature, dance, music composition, video production, accessible arts).
  • Randall PTSA will be in the courtyard before school to collect all artwork during our Intake Days, October 9th & 10th. Important: All submissions MUST include the Official Entry Form with artist statement and parent signature. Entry forms are available in the front office. Each student who turns in artwork and a completed entry form will receive a certificate, a box of candy and a coupon for a free double scoop from Brusters ice cream in Valrico. (Thank you, Brusters!)
  • Judging by local art professionals in each category takes place according to the national judging standards.
  • The top three submissions in each category at Randall will advance to the Hillsborough County Reflections competition, which takes place in November 2024.
  • In January 2025, the Hillsborough County Council PTA will announce county level winners selected to advance to Florida state competition.

TEACHER MINI-GRANTS

Our teacher mini grant program allows for teachers to apply to have some of these expenses covered. Whether it’s a fee for a guest speaker, an additional whiteboard or a set of specific books, our mini grant committee reviews each application and tries to help every teacher. We support our teachers!
